The Lakes College Fun Run 2012

We had a fantastic day supporting our local North Lakes community in the The Lakes College Fun Run for 2012. Our staff participated in the 2km, 2km Community Shield Relay, the 6km and the 10Km events held against the picturesque backdrop of landscaped gardens, lakes, bushland and the North Lakes Resort Gold Course.  Zande Law was once again a major sponsor (platinum) of the Lakes College Fun Run which has become an annual feature of the North Lakes community. It’s a great cause, the placing winners of the 2km Community Shield Time Trial which will elect to donate their winnings to the chairty or non-profit organisation of their choosing.

Our firm is delighted to continue to maintain its association with this extremely worthwhile and dedicated organisation.

The Foundation’s vision is to create training and high level medical specialist service facilities to the Redcliffe Peninsula and its surrounding region so as to better support the health needs of the local community. Its projects in the recent times have been to construct the $11 million medical specialist health centre which will now augment and superbly support the medical services already being provided out of the adjacent Redcliffe Hospital. Zande Law has participated as a platinum member for the Foundation now for the past 3 years. For the past 2 years, we have also with the kind support and appreciation of our clients, elected to distribute annual Christmas cards via an “E card” medium via email and have put the savings in the cost of printing and postage for those cards towards making additional $1,500.00 donations to the Foundation in both 2010 and 2011.

18 April 2012Red Cross Wills Day
Red Cross Wills Day
Our staff will again participate this year in the Red Cross Wills day at the North Lakes Community Centre.  For a small donation to be made to the Red Cross, our staff will take instructions for the preparation of the wills and prepare and have those wills executed for free. Each year, with the help of millions of volunteers worldwide and thousands of members, volunteers and supporters across Australia, Red Cross takes part in caring for both local communities in Australia and the Asia Pacific as well as helping millions of people around the world. This is an extremely worthwhile cause and well worth the support.

Nudgee College
Nudgee College logo

Throughout 2012, the year 5-9 of students at Nudgee College will be undertaking constant fundraising designed to raise moneys for the financial support, development and resourcing of schools in Kabankalan, Philippines. Unlike so many places in this amazing country, the people of Kabankalan struggled to achieve the basic necessities of food, clean water and education which we take so easily for granted.

The fundraising will ultimately culminate when all of the year year 5-9 students at Nudgee College will link together to walk a 6.6km route from Shorncliffe Pier back to Nudgee College.  Simultaneously, students from Kabankalan will be undertaking the same walk over the same distance in a symbolic gesture of solidarity.  At this point,  a small select group of Nudgee students will be chosen to travel to Kabankalan to deliver the financial support package and undertake physical works such as building and repairing structure for the students in that district.

To assist with Nudgee College and their venture, Zande Law has pledged that for every dollar donated by clients and staff towards this cause between now and ending in October 2012 will be matched dollar for dollar from Zande Law.

north lakes christmas carolsDecember 2011 – North Lakes Christmas Carrols
Our firm is delighted again to come on board with this fantastic event as sponsor for the third year running. We sponsored this event in 2009 and 2010. Rain has unfortunately been a factor in both years but all up a wonderful community event with lots of terrific Christmas cheer and North Lakes spirit.

November 2011
Grace College Logo
We are pleased yet again to make staff from our office available to act as mock interviewers in respect of job applicants from the Grace College year 10 students. This will be our third year participating in the program. This year the interviews were for a mock paralegal position and we were delighted to work through the curriculum vitae and job interviews for 9 students.  A terrific experience all round, which hopefully has provided the students with more insight into the real goings on in an actual job interview, so they are better prepared for when it really counts.

October 2011 – Octsober
Octsober
We were delighted to have provided financial sponsorship and support for our local legend Raelene Teauge of Century 21, who took up the challenge for this worthy cause in October. Octsober supports Water Aid and their mission is “Going dry to give the world a drink – donate the money you save by giving up alcohol for a month.”

July-September 2011
College Schools
Our firm this year was delighted to have hosted work experience placement students from Mueller College, St Rita’s College, Grace College and the North Lakes State College through the July and September school holidays. This year, students were able to accompany solicitors on court attendances, assisting our staff with the drafting of our weekly editorial submission to the North Lakes Messenger for which the students were accredited with co-authorship rights (a big feather in their cap for their personal CV’s) and were given the opportunity to sink their teeth into simulated case scenarios which enabled them to gain a much fuller appreciation of the exact type of work we as solicitors do.  All of the students particularly enjoyed the “Sleuthing” job simulation where the students were given the task of trying to uncover hidden lotto winnings in a mock simulated Family Law property settlement dispute. Our firm is highly committed towards assisting the youth of today in steering those interested into careers in the law, which is one of the biggest employers of personnel in the State.

August 2011 – TLC Fun Run and Community Fair
Tlc fun run 2011
Zande Law is delighted to come on board with this fantastic event as one of its major (platinum) sponsors for this year. The TLC fun run is now in its third year and 2011 marks our firm’s second year of participation both in terms of sponsorship and in terms of entry of teams into running events. This year, we had a terrific team of 8 runners entered into the 10k, 6k and 2k community shield events. Everyone was delighted with their times and all round wonderful experience for the community. The Lakes College should be commended again on putting on a fantastic event and we are already looking forward to participation again in 2012.

February 2011 – Salvation Army Charity Wills Day
Salvation Army Wills Day
Our staff will again participate this year in the Salvation Army Charity Wills day. The Salvation Army is a division of the universal Christian Church with a mission to meet human needs wherever they can without discrimination. The Salvation Army battles against poverty, addiction and the homelessness. They are generous aspects who comfort the sick and elderly, a wise essence to support the education of all ages, a charitable heart to address necessity where it occurs, and helps families through disasters and feeding starving children.
